Today, I celebrated the 130^th birthday of the County of Orange, which was officially incorporated August 1, 1889. There are so many hardworking professionals who dedicate their time every day to delivering the highest quality service to Orange County residents. From the Orange County Sheriff's Department Deputies to our OC Health Care Agency Blue Shirt Homeless Outreach Teams, all 18,000 County employees and Orange County Employees Association members are an integral part of serving you successfully every day. Thank you for 130 years and here’s to another great 130 years!

Last week, I visited the West Garden Grove and Washington Square Neighborhoods. We had great discussions ranging from how we’re caring for our college students experiencing homelessness to flood control in Central OC.

My wife and I were happy to spend Sunday morning celebrating at the Historic Street Breakfast. There was great food, good music, and lots of folks in vintage 1920s clothes to celebrate the occasion. I had a great time catching up with Senator Tom Umberg, members of the Wilshire Square Neighborhood Association, and other members of our Santa Ana Community!

On June 1, 2019, the CalFresh food assistance program expanded to include older adults and people with disabilities who receive Supplemental Security Income/State Supplemental Payment (SSI/SSP) benefits. 

To provide the community with information on the expanded benefits I am hosting two more senior food assistance events in partnership with the Orange County Social Services Agency.  Staff will be on hand to answer eligibility questions and process applications on-site.

Next Saturday, I will be hosting a FREE chalk zone for kids at the Civic Center in Santa Ana. The event will have a mini-mural workshop led by the Heritage Museum’s artists.

The event is from 4 PM to 7 PM with free parking available just across the street at the Old Orange County Courthouse. Come out and enjoy FREE:
