Supervisor Do Delivers State of the County at OC Forum
|
On Friday, Supervisor Andrew Do delivered the 2019 State of the County address at the OC Forum. Looking back on his year as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, he highlighted the County’s top priorities including infrastructure, housing, and the pressing issue of homelessness. This last year was one of major accomplishments for Orange County including the start of the I-405 Improvement Project, the groundbreaking of the OC Streetcar, purchasing the first County-owned mental health facility, allocating $189 million to address homelessness, and more. Despite this, there is still much work to be done. Supervisor Do emphasized that together we can keep up the momentum and make 2019 a year of even greater strides towards a better Orange County.

Local Officials Tour The Link Homeless Shelter in Santa Ana
|
Last week, Supervisor Andrew Do toured The Link with Santa Ana Mayor Pro Tem Juan Villegas, Mercy House, and City of Santa Ana Homeless Services Manager Hafsa Kaka. The Link is the interim homeless shelter that the City of Santa Ana (City) opened approximately two months ago. It is a 24-hour emergency shelter that serves homeless men, women, families with minor-aged children, and adult couples. This shelter is just part of Orange County’s wider response to issues of homelessness, leveraging partnerships with cities, nonprofits, the private sector, and others to create a holistic system of care. The County of Orange continuously collaborates with the City to address homelessness in our community. More information on The Link can be found here.

Orange County will be conducting the 2019 Point In Time count on Wednesday, January 23 and Thursday, January 24, 2019. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering, please visit the link here to find out how you can support the effort. The count begins tomorrow morning!
