This week, I was unanimously selected to serve as Vice Chair of the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

I am honored to serve as Vice Chair and humbled to receive the unanimous support of our Board. During the upcoming year, I will work closely with Chair Michele Steel to expand access to mental health care services and enhance the county’s system of care for combatting homelessness.

By working together, Orange County can continue to keep our neighborhoods safe as we work to resolve our community’s homeless crisis.

In 2020, I will also serve as Vice Chair of the OC Housing Finance Trust, Vice Chair of the Orange County Transportation Authority, Vice Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee at Metrolink, and Chair of the OC Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

In addition to keeping Orange County safe and providing care to the homeless, I plan to focus on creating more affordable housing, investing in Orange County’s public infrastructure, increasing access to vital health care services for seniors and low-income families, and alleviating financial burdens on students and recent graduates.

Orange County is a wonderful place to live. But, our county must find new ways to deliver that same high-quality of life to everyone in our community. We must create more opportunities for students, recent graduates, and young families to afford Orange County.

Congratulations to Garden Grove Mayor Steve Jones on his election as Chair of the OCTA Board of Directors! As OCTA’s newly-elected Vice Chair, we will work together to deliver high quality transit for Orange County.

We are off to a great start for 2020!

Last Friday, I attended my first meeting as the Vice Chair of Metrolink’s Audit and Finance Committee, where my amendment to strengthen the oversight of taxpayer dollars at Metrolink was approved unanimously.

Thank you to members of the Garden Grove Neighborhood Association and everyone who attended “Meet on Main” last Wednesday at the Wesley Village, a Jamboree Housing project. We discussed issues that impact Garden Grove, including homelessness and public safety.

Special thanks to the Garden Grove Police Department for sending a resource officer to help answer local concerns.

In case you missed it, this past Saturday, the BeWell OC Community Suicide Prevention Initiative held their Community Forum to discuss mental health and suicide prevention.

These meetings occur on the second Saturday of the month at 8:30am. The physical location changes regularly but they host a live link for those who cannot attend in person. You can check out the live video from Saturday’s meeting here!
