Orange County Honors Black History Month

Saturday marked the first day of Black History Month.

Our nation was built upon the enormous contributions of the African American community. From the civil rights movement to the continued struggle for racial equality, we owe so much to those who came before us.

Working Wardrobes Holds the Largest Clothes Drive After Devastating Fire

On Sunday morning, a fire engulfed Working Wardrobes’ headquarters, an organization that serves as the foremost career development nonprofit, championing on behalf of at-risk men, women, young adults, and veterans to help them achieve the Power of a Paycheck since 1990.

Yesterday, a press conference was held at the Goodwill Fitness Center in Santa Ana, who’s staff graciously opened their doors to Working Wardrobes until they find a more suitable location.

Now more than ever, Working Wardrobes needs the community’s help to continue their incredible work! Supervisor Don Wagner and I pledged the county’s full support by hosting a large clothing drive and will work together to locate a new temporary facility to get this incredible organization back to full capacity.

Consider donating or volunteering by checking out their website or calling them at 714-210-2460.

OCTA Launches 10 New Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Buses

Last Friday, the Orange County Transportation Authority launched 10 new hydrogen fuel cell electric buses that will serve central Orange County.

The only emission from these buses? Water!

I hope that Sacramento will continue to work with local transit agencies to identify funding opportunities to implement new technologies like these buses.

Thank you to all the organizations that made this pilot project possible: OCTA, OC Bus, Caltrans, South Coast Air Quality Management District - South Coast AQMD, Trillium, New Flyer, California Climate Investments, and Air Products!
