OC Board of Supervisors Support Assembly Bill that will Speed Affordable Housing Efforts

Orange County is backing a state proposal that would speed up affordable housing projects and bring much-needed relief to families struggling in one of the country’s most expensive housing markets.

During today's board meeting, the Board of Supervisors unanimously threw their support behind Assembly Bill 1907, which would exempt affordable housing, supportive housing, and emergency shelters from the California Environmental Quality Act, commonly known as CEQA.

We’ve been urging Sacramento for years to deliver CEQA relief for affordable housing projects. And, finally, they’re listening.

Read more about it here in my press releasehttps://d1.ocgov.com/OC-Board-Backs-Bill-to-Support-Affordable-Housing.

Congrats to the executive director, Karen Ruan, and all the staff at Project Youth who empower youth and families to make positive choices through their various programs.

Local Santa Ana Student Wraps Up County Internship

For the past few months, we have had Celine intern for our office. As she gets ready to plan for her AP exams and gears up for college, we celebrated her last day last week.

Celine is an exceptional high school student from Godinez Fundamental who not only is taking three Advanced Placement courses, but also helps at her family’s Santa Ana restaurant, Birrieria Nochistlan, AND volunteers at the Heritage Museum of Orange County!

Wishing the best for this incredible young woman!

Opioid misuse and addiction can affect anyone; fortunately, there are other ways to help manage pain. That’s the message behind a new OC Health Care Agency campaign that launched last week.

The campaign focuses on our coastal and south Orange County cities where opioid overdose deaths are more prevalent.
