Shih Tzu Rescue!

Say hello to the newest, adopted member of the family, Nuritoo!

On May 30th, over 140 Shih Tzus were rescued from a single home and are currently being cared for at OC Animal Care. Approximately 50 of the rescued dogs became cleared for adoption yesterday at our Board of Supervisors meeting. The remainder are expected to be released in the near future.

In addition to the recused Shih Tzus, OC Animal Care is well over capacity and has dozens of loving animals ready to be adopted into your family.

For more information on how to start the process to find your own 'Nuritoo,' visit www.OcPetInfo.com.

The Bolsa Chica Conservancy’s 8th Annual Barefoot Ball

The Bolsa Chica Conservancy’s 8th Annual Barefoot Ball was a huge success!

I’m proud to be on the Board of Directors that helps ensure the vital Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Huntington Beach is properly, protected, maintained, and thrives for future generations of both wildlife and humans.

Executive Director Grace Adams and her team do a fantastic job seven days a week. And last night, they put on the best Barefoot Ball yet - congratulations, Grace!

I had the privilege of presenting the 2019 Conservator of the Year Award to The Port of Long Beach for their outstanding and proactive work in making the port clean and green. I also presented certificates of recognition to more than forty sponsors of the Bolsa Chica Conservancy.

Thank you to everyone who came out in support.

50th Anniversary of Robert Gisler Elementary School

Between 800 - 1000 Gisler Gators and family members came out to their annual carnival in order to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Gisler (Robert) Elementary School in Fountain Valley.

It was a pleasure to have staff present Principal Erin Bains with a framed certificate of recognition commemorating their Golden Anniversary.

Gisler Elementary is a high-performing School in my District and you can see why by the outpouring of community support at this great, local event.

Congratulations to Principal Bains, her staff, the parent volunteers, and the community leaders on this momentous occasion!

Orange County Medical Association General Membership & Officers Installation Dinner

On June 15th the Orange County Medical Association held their annual General Membership & Officers Installation Dinner at the Center Club in Costa Mesa.

It was a pleasure to have staff recognize outgoing President Dr. Paul Yost, on behalf of the Board of Supervisors, for his year of leadership. While he’s stepping down on OCMA, he is still the Chairman of CalOptima and does a great job there.

Thank you for your volunteer service to the OCMA, Paul. Congratulations on your well-deserved recognition!

Orange County Waste & Recycling

Have you ever been a Wishcycler?

Wishcycling is placing an item in the recycling bin without being certain it belongs there. Although well-intentioned, it can cause more harm than good. Items that do not belong in a recycling bin can potentially contaminate a good batch of recyclables or damage sorting machinery at collection facilities. According to OC Waste & Recycling, some common wishcycled items are:

  • Wire hangers
  • Cardboard pizza boxes with leftover grease
  • Razor blades
  • Batteries
  • Laminated paper

Recycling the right way will benefit the environment. To stop wishcycling you can:
