D.C. District Court allows Orange County to Join Newport Beach in FAA Lawsuit

Supervisor Spitzer with Chairwoman Michelle Steel’s District Two representative presented JWA-FAA legal objections process to members of the Newport Balboa Rotary Club and community supporters on Thursday, February 9th

The continuing legal challenge between Orange County, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach against the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) a first-step favorable result last week when the D.C. District Court ruled the County could join the City of Newport Beach in its federal lawsuit. The ruling allows the County to provide resources in the Newport Beach case but is limited to the specific objections Newport Beach filed last year. Laguna Beach has a similar case on file in the D.C. District Court. Those cases, and Orange County’s petition to file a separate case of its own remain pending in the D.C. court, where all cases filed against the FAA from across the country are being reviewed.

Supervisor Todd Spitzer is continuing his series of informative presentations to rally public support throughout Orange County. The Supervisor was invited to deliver his message outlining the County objections of the FAA’s NextGen project with an update on the legal proceedings to the Newport Balboa Rotary Club on Thursday, February 9th at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club. Supervisor Spitzer was joined at the event by Tim Whitacre, District Representative for Chairwoman Michelle Steele, Second District which includes Newport Beach.

Supervisor Spitzer has future presentation bookings in Laguna Niguel and Laguna Woods in coming weeks and is available to speak with any group or organization seeking the latest update information on this important issue.
