County Approves Purchase of 1000 N Kraemer Place
Supervisor Nelson is pleased to announce the purchase of 1000 N. Kraemer Place in Anaheim. The County has now entered into a 90-day due diligence period during which the County will review the potential use of the site and any required environmental evaluations will be completed in accordance with the law. The review will include community outreach and the Board encourages community members to be part of the conversation. This site could be used for any number of purposes, i.e. storage, equipment repair, office space or a year-round emergency homeless shelter. Any additional decisions about the use of the site will be brought back for consideration by the Board of Supervisors at future meetings. We welcome input from citizens and businesses!

New Chief Financial Officer Appointed
(Courtesy of CEO Communications)

County Executive Officer Frank Kim has announced the selection of Michelle Aguirre to serve as the County’s new chief financial officer (CFO) effective immediately. She fills the vacancy left by Kim, who had served as CFO since 2013 and was named county executive officer in May 2015.

“I know Michelle to be an extraordinary employee and leader,” Kim said. “Going down the check list of critical attributes for a CFO, she has them all – integrity, trustworthiness, strategic-minded, strong financial knowledge, analytical, collaborative, team-oriented, effective coach and mentor, solid decision-maker and great a communicator.”

Aguirre has provided oversight of the County’s $5 billion budget as director of the County’s Budget Office since 2013 and has been employed by the County of Orange for more than 25 years. She joined in the County in 1989 as an office assistant in the former General Services Agency and was promoted to staff analyst and administrative manager positions in the County Executive Office and Probation Department. As chief financial officer, she will work to ensure the financial stability of the County by managing the budget, procurement, public finance and risk management functions in an efficient, cost-effective and responsive manner.

Michelle holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University, Fullerton.

State of the County PowerPoint Presentation
Supervisor Nelson presented his State of the County PowerPoint last week at the Meridian Sports Club hosted by both the Brea and Fullerton Chambers of Commerce. The County budget, OCTA Freeway projects and addressing homelessness were among some of the issues spoken by Supervisor Nelson. The Chambers have been the voice of the business community since its founding. A strong, dynamic business community benefits everyone in north Orange County. The Chambers connect local businesses, service organizations and all levels of government to create an environment where people want to live, work and play.
