Light Up Hope OC
|
|
My Board colleagues and I participated in the “Lighting Up Hope” press conference, along with OC Health Care Agency officials and mental health nonprofits. From September 19-24, 2022, several iconic locations throughout Orange County are lighted in teal and purple as part of the “Light Up Hope OC” campaign to recognize suicide prevention month in September. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among children 10-14 and young adults ages 24-35. We thank the OC Health Care Agency for leading the initiative. And we give a special thanks to Chief, Mental Health and Recovery Services, Dr. Veronica Kelley and Dr. Bhuvana Rao, Division Manager for the Office of Suicide Prevention for all the work they put into this campaign. To get help for you or a loved one, dial 9-8-8, it is the new three digit contact number for Didi Hirsch Suicide Prevention Crisis Lifeline. 9-8-8 provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
