Tet Festival and Lunar New Year Celebrations

My staff and I joined several Lunar New Year Celebrations across the county this month. From the vibrant festivities at California State University, Fullerton’s Lunar New Year Celebration, to the joyous Tet New Year’s Eve Celebration hosted by OCTA Chairman Tam Nguyen at Advance Beauty College, wonderful Lunar New Year performances by children and volunteers at the Fullerton Chinese Cultural Association, and capping it off with the fantastic OC Tet Lunar New Year Festival hosted by Supervisor Andrew Do - the spirit of family, community, and tradition was truly inspiring!

We wish all who celebrate Lunar New Year, good fortune and good health this Year of the Dragon!

Last Saturday, the Orange County Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen had special hours at the Old Orange County Courthouse from 10 am to 3 pm for couples to say “I do”.

Couples were able to get married Saturday, on that auspicious day, 2-24-2024, a truly memorable anniversary date.

I want to thank the Clerk Recorder’s office for inviting me to join them Saturday in officiating 7 weddings.

Congratulations to all the couples that got married! 💍💒

Staff Retreat
On Friday, we held our annual District 4 Staff Retreat at Santiago Oaks Regional Parks. County CEO Frank Kim started the retreat with insights of his career journey in the county and answered questions from staff on how to be leaders in the county. We had a great workshop from Angela Sun at OCTA on the 6 Working Genius model and she helped us discover our team’s individual and collective “geniuses”.

We also had important presentations from the County of Orange Social Services Agency, CalOptima, and the Office of Care Coordination about their programs and services, with updates on their current initiatives.

OC Parks Rangers helped our team take a mid-day hike to the historic dam and provided some interesting history of the park. The retreat was a great way to foster team spirit and camaraderie.
