County News
CEO Frank Kim's Retirement
July 11 was our County’s CEO Frank Kim’s last day.
At the June 25th Board of Supervisors meeting, we presented him a resolution recognizing his commitment and dedication to the county for the last 29 years of which he spent 9 years as CEO.

As CEO, he has led our County through many hard times and has worked to make the county a leader and change maker. I had the pleasure to work with him on many projects such as the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs, Commission on the Status of Women and Girls, and the Brea County Community Service Center.

I want to thank Frank for his leadership and dedication and wish a him a peaceful and happy retirement. We will miss him as a member of the County family.

OC Fair Express is Back!

I’m happy to share that the OC Fair Express is returning this year for the first time since the pandemic halted it in 2020. Through the special bus service, OCTA will offer direct routes to the fair from four locations around the county on Saturdays and Sundays.

Regular OCTA fares will apply, including free rides for those 18 and under and for those with the Community College Pass.

The buses will drop off and pick up passengers just a short walk from the fair entrance, providing affordable and convenient non-stop travel to the OC Fair. This year’s OC Fair, themed “Always a Good Time,” is scheduled to begin this week in Costa Mesa. The Express Service will be available Saturday, July 20, and running weekends through August 18.

So save your gas and travel with OCTA on the bus to experience Orange County's annual fair this summer.

The service will be provided every 30 minutes, generally between 10 a.m. and midnight (to plan your trip Click Here)

Foster-to-Adopt Pilot Program (OCAC)

Foster-to-Adopt is a unique program offered by OC Animal Care that allows potential adopters to bring select dogs home for a two-week trial period before making a final decision on adoption.

All dogs in the Foster-to-Adopt program are fully vetted, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and up-to-date on dewormer and flea preventative treatments. The shelter's Foster Team provides support throughout the process, offering guidance and answering any questions you may have.

To participate, visit the shelter during viewing hours to meet eligible dogs in person, or soon you'll be able to view them online. A meet-and-greet with your chosen dog is required before starting the Foster-to-Adopt period.

OC Animal Care provides essential supplies such as food, an ID tag, and a leash, as well as veterinary care during the foster period. Paperwork includes a foster agreement and adoption forms, with adoption finalized over the phone once you decide to proceed.

If the dog is not the right fit, you can return them to the shelter with no obligation. This process helps ensure that both you and the dog find a suitable match. Your feedback about the dog's behavior and personality during fostering assists in finding their perfect forever home.

For more information or to begin the Foster-to-Adopt process, contact OC Animal Care at 714-935-6848 or email OCACPrograms@occr.ocgov.com

Gun Buyback City Council Presentation
In May we hosted our second Gun Buyback in partnership with Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento that was led by the Anaheim Police Department in collaboration police departments from across North Orange County, including Brea, Buena Park, Fullerton, La Habra, Orange, and Placentia along with OC Sheriff Department’s Bomb Squad.

For collaborating with my office and staffing the event, we presented certificates of recognition to Police Department Chiefs and their personnel who participated in the Gun Buyback.

Our recent event in Anaheim saw a collection of 337 firearms, including 37 assault weapons. In total, we collected 757 firearms, including 53 assault weapons from our two Gun Buyback events.
