#MaskUpOC Contest to Encourage Mask Wearing
Too many people are ignoring health experts’ advice that we should all wear masks. Together, we can change that. I’ve launched the #MaskUpOC Art Contest to harness the talent we have in Orange County to boost mask-wearing. We’re looking for your help to convince everyone to wear masks. Think about ways that are informative and fun. Humor and eye-catching visuals are definitely encouraged! You can submit videos, posters, infographics, drawings, songs, memes, or any other original works that inspire, educate, and encourage our community to stay safe by wearing a mask. The goal is impact. So, ask your family & friends to Like and Share your submission. You can submit your entries by tagging @JoinAndrewDo on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook and use the #MaskUpOC. Every week, winners from each group will be selected based on creativity AND community impact. Submissions can be in any language. Even Dothraki or Klingon! Click here to view a timeline of where I have stood on face coverings since late March.

OCTA Will Require Passengers to Wear Face Masks
Face masks are an effective tool to help keep the spread of COVID-19 down. Last week, I raised my strong concern that bus drivers and passengers were not wearing masks. I'm glad to report that OCTA responded and has worked to make it clear that all employees and bus riders must wear masks. The Federal Transit Administration has also provided 60,000 reusable face coverings that will be made available to all passengers who use the OC Bus fleet. These free face coverings will be provided in a dispensary on every bus.

Mosquito Season in Orange County
Recent rains and rising temperatures have led to ideal mosquito breeding conditions around our backyards. Mosquito control is a shared responsibility. To learn more about how you can keep your family safe at home, visit www.OCvector.org, or follow them on social media Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District. For more information, check the video below where we talk to Heather Hyland from the OC Vector Control to learn how we can stay safe from mosquitos this summer.

Santa Ana Youth Raises $20K for Street Vendors
Last week during the FTP Crew Show, I was so happy to recognize the contributions of Santa Ana resident, Jerry Reyes, who raised over $20k for local street vendors during COVID-19. At nine-years-old, this incredible young man has shown so much compassion and is a great example for our community.

District 1 Recognizes Interns
Internships enable students to harness the skills, knowledge, and theoretical practices they learn in school. This summer, my office has had three incredible interns join our team. Anne is a senior at Claremont McKenna College, Rod is currently attending Gonzaga University, and Nico, a current Chapman University law student, is headed to New York this summer to teach kids in at-risk communities. I’m proud of these Orange County residents for serving and being leaders in their communities.

DTSA Farmer’s Market
Every Tuesday, Native Harvest hosts the DTSA Farmers' Market on 3rd and Bush St. in Santa Ana. Yesterday after the Board Meeting, I stopped by with longtime community leader, Tish Leon, to support our local Santa Ana vendors. It is crucial that we continue to support Small Businesses and local food vendors like this Famers Market.
