Board of Supervisors Approves Issuance of Request for Proposal for the Kraemer Homeless Shelter and Service Center |
 |
 1000 N. Kraemer Pl., Anaheim |
|
The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously this week to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to select an operator for the Kraemer Homeless Shelter and Service Center that is planned to be constructed at 1000 North Kraemer Place in Anaheim. The Kraemer Homeless Shelter and Service Center will be the first countywide, year-round homeless shelter in Orange County.
The Orange County Board of Supervisors acquired 1000 North Kraemer Place to build a 200-bed emergency shelter and service center that will house the homeless including women and children.
The RFP also seeks an operator for the two seasonal Armory Emergency Shelters. The County could select separate operators for the Kraemer site and the armories.
Orange County is one of the wealthiest counties in the nation, yet 15,291 people are homeless and 31% of those people are children.
RFP application responses are due by June 6, and the Board of Supervisors plans to select an operator by August 23. |
