Black April Memorial |
In honor of Black April, Supervisor Andrew Do honored the lives of those who fought for our freedom at the Vietnam War Memorial in Westminster’s Freedom Park.
Black April, April 30, 1975 marks the end of the longest military conflict in the 20th Century for Vietnam. While the Vietnam War might have ended then, the people of Vietnam still do not enjoy peace and freedom in their own country.
“Vietnamese-Americans, like myself, are fortunate to be living in the U.S., a nation of law and order,” said Supervisor Do. “We believe in the noble and heroic role we hold as a nation, as a force for good around the world.”

Permanent Funding for Veterans Housing Project |
Last week, the Board of Supervisor's secured permanent loan financing for Potters Lane, the County's new housing project for homeless veterans built out of recycled shipping containers in Midway City.
Now that construction has completed and the entire building is leased, the County has secured permanent financing to repay the short-term construction loan.
"This funding is the final step in the Potters Lane development, ensuring this project will serve our veterans here in Orange County for years and years to come," said Supervisor Andrew Do.
This project was brought to fruition in less than 18 months and has many first-of-its-kind features. All 15 units are built out of recycled steel shipping containers made by GrowthPoint Structures which makes them both cost effective and eco-friendly. |
