Food Safety Seminar Tomorrow |
|
Do you own or work at a business that handles food? If so, then please join Chairman Andrew Do and Supervisor Michelle Steel tomorrow, October 10, 2018, for a FREE Food Safety Seminar. Those who complete the seminar will receive a certificate of completion that can be displayed in your business.
The Orange County Health Care Agency’s Environmental Health Division, the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and Waste Not Orange County will present information on how to prevent major food safety violations, why the health department closes food businesses, understanding food donations and much more!
Check in will begin at 1pm followed by the Seminar and Q&A from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. FREE Health Fair in Westminster this Sunday |
|
This Sunday, October 14th, Chairman Andrew Do is sponsoring a FREE health fair with the Vietnamese Physician Association of Southern California and community organizations.
Attendees may access a host of medical services at no charge including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, and hemoglobin testing; flu shot; dental and vision exams; certain cancer screenings, hearing screenings; heat and cardiovascular disease testing and much more. Get Your FREE Flu Shot! |
|
Do you still need to get your flu shot this year? Chairman Andrew Do is hosting three FREE flu shot clinics to help the community prepare for flu season. These clinics are open to the public and provide shots at no cost. OC Health Care Agency nurses administer all vaccines on a first come, first serve basis.
The flu or influenza is a serious illness. It’s more than just a runny nose and sore throat. The flu can make you very sick and cause you to go to the hospital or even lead to death. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone 6 months and older get the flu vaccine (flu shot). You can protect yourself and those around you by getting a flu shot.

Orange County Community Resources Recognizes Outstanding Service at 10th Anniversary Celebration |
|
Last Wednesday, Chairman Do helped recognize over 450 employees at the Orange County Community Services (OCCR) Annual Employee Recognition Awards Ceremony. The ceremony was held at Freedom Hall in Mile Square Park and featured food, decorations and awards for outstanding individuals.
Celebrating its' 10th anniversary as a department, OCCR is made up of the Office on Aging, OC Housing Authority, Veterans Service Office, Housing & Community Development, OC Animal Care, Orange County Parks, and OC Public Libraries. Employees were recognized on their merit as well as their years of service including Jeff Wermers, who has served the County for over 35 years with OC Parks. Thank you to all our dedicated employees for making Orange County an enjoyable place to live, work and play! |

OC Parks Honored With Awards of Excellence and Achievement |
|
|
|
This year, OC Parks received multiple achievement awards from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA), National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials (NACPRO), and the Los Angeles Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
3CMA honored OC Parks, for its Orange County Bike Bells program, with an Award of Excellence at the 2018 Savvy Awards for best use of a promotional item, and marketing tools and special activities for a recurring event. This program, which distributes OC Parks branded bike bells to promote safety and communication between mountain bikers and other trail users, was recognized for its mechanism, versatility, and innovative problem solving.
The Wagon Wheel Restoration Plan, which used low-impact engineering to repair severe creek erosion while maintaining a natural appearance in Riley Wilderness Park, received multiple awards. NACPRO recognized OC Parks with an Environmental Conservation Award for the project. This award recognizes an exceptional effort to acquire, restore, preserve, operate, or develop unique or significant conservation and natural areas or programs.
The Los Angeles Section of ASCE selected OC Parks’ Wagon Wheel Creek Restoration Plan and Stormwater Management for the 2018 Flood Management Project of the Year. This project was recognized for its unique technical achievements, its complexity, scope and engineering features. This special recognition advances OC Parks to the California Region for awards. |
