On the evening of Friday, June 11th, we hosted a candlelight vigil to honor the more than 5,000 lives lost during COVID-19. The memorial was the first in-person COVID memorial to be held by County government, and featured local elected officials, union leaders and healthcare representatives. The event also featured two musical performances to open and close the ceremony. It is my hope this evening helped strengthen our commitment to mourn, reflect and find strength, as our state begins to reopen. CONGRATULATIONS, CLASS OF 2021! Congratulations to the Class of 2021! High school students across our district graduated this week, a remarkable accomplishment for a year which has seen shifting schedules, hybrid learning, and an evolving pandemic. I celebrated with graduates at Los Alamitos High School in Rossmoor during their annual car parade. Thank you for the invitation! 
ENGAGING WITH OUR COMMUNITIES We also attended events in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach this week. Thank you to South Coast Metro Alliance and the Exchange Club of Newport Harbor for giving us the opportunity to speak and share our upcoming activities. We also recognized George Thomson and Jay Nugent for their remarkable achievements for Costa Mesa. Thank you for ushering in a new record!
