As we also get closer to the state’s projected reopening date of June 15th, there is so much excitement. But there’s also some confusion, especially on the CDC’s latest guidance. So I wanted to share some updates as we look forward to reopening!
Second, the County’s Super Pods will close on June 6th, with the County moving to mobile pods moving forward. This helps us reach the harder-to-reach communities and brings vaccination shots closer. Until then, all of the pods are accepting walk-up appointments, and we encourage you to take advantage of them!
It’s also been a busy week at the office, as we continue to strengthen our relationships with the communities across the Second District. Earlier in the week, I attended Huntington Beach Kiwanis’s 60th anniversary lunch. What a tremendous accomplishment and so many years of service!
My team and I also toured John Wayne Airport, as a part of our continued effort to learn airport operations, so we can better support the airport especially as our travel and tourism industry rebounds. I was joined by my JWA committee appointee Sue Dvorak, who has provided a brief update under airport transparency.
Throughout the week, I also provided community updates, including to the Rossmoor Homeowner’s Association, the Newport Beach Chamber Governmental Affairs committee, and the North Orange County Chamber.
I also joined Chairman Do and Sheriff Barnes in attending and speaking at the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriff (AOCDS)’s Fallen Officer memorial, recognizing the officers who have lost their lives in the line of service. We honor and recognize your sacrifice.
I was also able to catch up with some of our frontline medical providers at our mobile clinic in Costa Mesa. Thank you for all that you do!
And finally, my team and I were able to join Vice Chair Chaffee, Mayor Traut and the Buena Park City Council at the Knott’s Berry Farm back in their 100th Anniversary Preview night. Our visit was such an important reminder: as long as we stay the course and continue to get vaccinated, we can soon return to living our best lives!
Warmest regards,
Supervisor, District Two
Orange County Board of Supervisors

This week has been a busy one! We’re hard at work to serve the 2nd District.

What a week!
One of my favorite parts of working with the office is our ability to directly work with constituents on projects that matter to us!
Last Saturday, I was so proud to join Costa Mesa residents in Love Costa Mesa Day, where I helped repaint a neighborhood park!
This week, I also attended a town hall with United Domestic Workers, where I was able to engage with them on their concerns. The Supervisor and I also had a great time attending the Costa Mesa Chamber’s Les Miller Scholarship Award Ceremony, where we met so many inspiring young students who succeeded despite COVID-19!
We’re so proud of all of you!
Finally, I was proud to welcome the Top My Workout Gym in a grand opening in Los Alamitos. We love helping businesses get their start, and supporting their growth in our district!
Remember: if you’d like us to support the grand opening of your business, please reach out to us!
QUESTIONS ABOUT COVID VACCINES? THE COUNTY HAS A RESOURCE!
Vaccination is one of the most important tools to end the COVID-19 pandemic!
Orange County will equitably distribute a safe and effective vaccine to everyone who lives or works in Orange County, ages 12 and older* as supply is available.
The OC Health Care Agency is scheduling vaccines through the Othena.com platform (and apps), and you can learn more from covidvaccinefacts.com.
PET OF THE WEEK!
We’re back to share another Pet of the Week from the Animal Care Shelter at the County of Orange!
Meet Ada!
OC Pet Info says: 7-year-old Ada was brought to OC Animal Care when her owners were forced to relocate and could not take Ada along with them.
Ada’s first few days at the shelter were challenging. She was often found hiding in the back of her kennel and was unable to tolerate even the most minimal handling from the shelter volunteers. Ada was initially scared and untrusting of people but after a week of slow interactions, our kennel staff were finally able to brush her and give her small amounts of hands-on attention.
After a month of these types of daily connections, Ada blossomed! She is now an affectionate lovebug who enjoys rolling in catnip and playing with toys! Are you willing to give this sweet girl a second chance at a great life? If so, please call 714-935-6848 to schedule an adoption appointment to meet Ada!
Please call 714-935-6848 to schedule an adoption appointment to meet Fergie!

The Airport Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of the following:
Approve a Job Order Contract (JOC) to Sully-Miller Contracting Company for pavement maintenance & repair services at JWA. The contract is executed by the Director of OC Public Works, and staff claims that the purpose of the JOC program is to expedite services for maintenance and repair work on an as-needed basis.
JWA staff indicated that video recording and publicly posting Commission meetings might present some problems. We will continue to pursue better transparency.
