Supervisor Todd Spitzer leading the Pledge of Allegiance |
|
Supervisor Todd Spitzer attended Crime Survivors’ 12th Hopeful Healing Awards Banquet Gala Fundraiser this week and shared a few remarks before leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Crime Survivors is a visionary advocacy organization that is committed to serving the community by being an advocate and resource for crime victims and their families. |

During the event, public safety personnel and members from the private and public sector were presented awards for assisting and helping victims of crime.
“Crime Survivors is a strong advocate and partner in fighting for victims’ rights. Our work together is not done. Californians passed Marsy’s Law in 2008, creating the strongest and most enforceable rights in the nation but we need a Constitutional Amendment to guarantee those rights throughout the Nation,” said Supervisor Todd Spitzer. Spitzer served as the State-Wide Chair & Campaign Manager of Prop. 9, “Marsy’s Law,” named after Dr. Nicholas’ sister, Marsy, who was murdered by an estranged ex-boyfriend in 1983.
Crime Survivors’ special guests at the Gala included Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey, Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell, San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael Ramos, ABC7 Eyewitness News Orange County Bureau Chief Eileen Frere and Retired Orange County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Dominic Montalbano.
The mission of Crime Survivors is for victims of crime to recover from their experience mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially, by receiving the respect, support, and protection from law enforcement, the judicial system, and the community.
